TRAFFIC CALMING - COUNCIL RING ROAD

COUNCILLOR'S MESSAGE

Dear Neighbour,

I have received concerns from the community regarding speeding and aggressive driving on Council Ring Road.  In response to these concerns,  I requested that City of Mississauga Traffic Staff evaluate Council Ring Road under the City’s Traffic Calming Program.  The Traffic Calming Program assesses municipal roadways for the potential installation of physical traffic calming measures, such as speed cushions and raised intersections to address traffic safety issues.  The evaluation revealed that physical traffic calming measures would be beneficial in addressing traffic safety issues on Council Ring Road.

Physical traffic calming measures have been implemented in other locations in the Ward 8 community and have effectively mitigated speeding and aggressive driving in these communities.

After the initial review and consultation, City Staff prepared a traffic calming plan for Council Ring Road, between Glen Erin Drive (south leg) and The Collegeway for consideration.

I would like to request your valued feedback on this plan. Under normal circumstances, an in-person meeting is held to discuss proposed traffic calming plans.  Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, an in-person meeting cannot be held during this time.  As such, an online consultation is being held to provide feedback on this proposal.

 1. Visit mattmahoney.ca  and review the proposed ‘Traffic Calming’ plan.

 2. Please fill out the survey (1 per household) on the website to provide your input as to whether you support or do not support this proposal. Alternatively, you may contact my office via e-mail at matt.mahoney@mississauga.ca or phone at 905-896-5800.

Please provide your feedback on or before Friday, December 4th, 2020.

Staff will compile the results of your feedback and we will provide you with an update as to whether or not this proposed traffic calming plan will be implemented on Council Ring Road. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to receiving your feedback on this proposal.
