Councillor Matt Mahoney was born and raised in Mississauga and has been a resident of Ward 8 for over 45 years. As a lifelong resident and living in a family with a tradition of community service, Matt understands the level of commitment and hard work that is necessary to effectively represent the interests of our increasingly diverse community.
For over 20 years Matt worked in the private sector. Moving forward in his career, Matt became a National Sales Director for a corporation specializing in manufacturing products for the airlines industry across the world. This position enabled Matt to travel to different parts of the world and negotiate contracts with major airlines.
As Councillor, Matt is actively involved in numerous committees within the City of Mississauga and the Region of Peel. Matt demonstrates great leadership in all the committees he sits on such as Accessibility Advisory Committee (City and Regional), Advertising Review Panel, Budget Committee, Peel Living Board, Credit Valley Conversation Authority, Mississauga Public Library Board and the Waste Management Strategic Advisory Committee. In addition, Matt is presently the Chair of the Environmental Action Committee.
Matt continues to be involved in the community and participates regularly in Ward activities and events. Matt is a strong communicator and advocate for the residents, families and business on issues and matters of importance within Ward 8 and the City of Mississauga.
Matt and his wife Karen, an Elementary School Teacher in Mississauga; are proud parents of Jack and Madison and currently reside in Ward 8.
